True Metdriths know...Perhaps Hobie Landrith's greatest non-Mets claim to fame is that he was the first catcher for Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal (who went on to beat the Mets 19 straight times). Marichal pitched a 1-hit shutout in his MLB debut, on July 19, 1960, carrying a no-hitter until two were out in the eighth. Landrith, his catcher, had two hits that day.
